England limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan has believed that restoration of sport could play a huge role in uplifting the world after coronavirus crisis.
Major sports events around the globe including Tokyo Olympics 2020 are canceled as the world fights with the coronavirus pandemic. England and Wales Cricket Board has also canceled all international and domestic crickets in the country till May 28.
Eoin Morgen further said, “Isolation encourages idle minds. Sport can create that theatre and that level of expectation around what it’s like to be outside again and be active. If it came to it, I think it would be a huge step forward.
He said, “Obviously times are still uncertain at the moment, adding, “Realistically we can’t think about playing until the situation is downgraded from a pandemic,” he added.
He also praised Jos Buttler’s gesture who has decided to auction the shirt he wore in England’s 2019 World Cup final win to raise funds for two hospitals.
Commenting in this regard, he said, “It’s an incredibly kind gesture. I’m not one for holding on to memorabilia. Other people are different.”
“His shirt will go for a lot of money and it should do, but the gesture within itself to aid new equipment that can be bought is absolutely outstanding.”
