An intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted in the general area of Katalang, Mardan District, which resulted in the killing of a high-value target identified as terrorist ring leader Faisal.

The killed terrorist was actively involved in numerous terrorist activities and was highly wanted by law enforcement agencies. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from his possession, it added.

In another encounter with terrorists in the general area of Parachinar, Kurram District, the army troops effectively engaged the location of terrorists. However, Lance Naik Ghairat Khan, aged 33 years, a resident of Kurram District, having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom.

The military press wing said security forces are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.

Earlier on Friday, at least three terrorists associated with banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed and several others wounded in an infiltration bid thwarted by the armed forces in Zhob area of Balochistan, said a military statement on Friday.

In the gunfight, four Pakistan Army soldiers also embraced martyrdom. The ISPR said that security forces thwarted the terrorists’ entry near Sambaza area of Zhob at the Pak-Afghan Border.

In the ensuing operation, Havildar Sattar, Lance Naik Sher Azam, Lance Naik Adnan, and Sepoy Nadeem fought valiantly and embraced martyrdom. It added that three terrorists were also killed while several others were wounded in retaliation from security forces.

Interim Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Zhob and said that the Pakistan Army soldiers thwarted TTP terrorists’ attempt to enter Pakistan from Afghanistan.

In a statement, the minister said that the Pakistan Army killed three terrorists in retaliatory action. He prayed for the high status of the martyred, expressing heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families.

Bugti said the entire nation paid tribute to the patriotism of the security forces and the Pakistani nation stood by their soldiers. “We will wipe out every single terrorist and enemy of the country on the earth,” he vowed. The minister said cowardly acts of terrorists could not sabotage peace and prosperity in Pakistan.
