FAISALABAD: At least six people were killed and 10 others sustained severe injuries when a speeding van collided with a trailer-truck in Faisalabad on Monday.
According to the rescue sources, a fast-moving van collided with a trailer truck due to over-speeding near Chanakay Chak in Faisalabad. As a result, six people were killed on the spot, while 10 other sustained severe injuries.
The eyewitness at the scene said the van’s driver lost control over the steering due to over-speeding and collided with trailer truck near Chanakay Chak subsequently the vehicle caught fire.
After receiving information about the accident rescue officials reached the site and shift the bodies and injured to a nearby hospital. Three of the injured were in critical condition, said the hospital sources. The ill-fated passenger van was going to Shorkot from Sheikhupura.
Earlier, five members of the same family were killed and three others sustained serious injuries when the car they were traveling collided head-on with the Mazda in Burewala area of Punjab on June 12.
According to the details, a local trader Muhammad Irshad along with his family had on his way home when their car collided with the Mazda near Adda Mana Mor in Burewala.
Muhammad Irshad, his wife and his three children had died on the spot while his three other children sustained serious injuries in the accident.
On May 31, At least six people were killed and 32 others injured as a speeding passenger bus overturned near Pull Rangu in Khanewal.
According to police sources, the bus going from Shakargarh to Bahawalpur had suddenly overturned while saving a motorcyclist near Pull Rangu in Khanewal. As a result, six passengers died on the spot, while 32 sustained severe injuries.
Rescue 1122 District Emergency Officer, Dr Ijaz Anjum had said that those who were critically injured were shifted to Nishtar Hospital, Multan, while others were moved to district headquarters (DHQ) hospital Khanewal and tehsil headquarters (THQ) hospital Kabirwala.
