Sindh police arrest 138 people for violating lockdown orders

SINDH: Sindh police on Monday  apprehended 138 people over allegedly violating lockdown orders across Sindh province during 24 hours.
According to a spokesman for Sindh police, at least 82 people were arrested for violating lockdown orders from different parts of Karachi.
Those were arrested in Karachi, including 15 people from the South zone, 33 from East zone while, 34 were nabbed from West zones of the metropolis. A total 40 FIRs were registered against the arrested people, the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, 56 people were detained by police from different parts of Sindh, including 01 person from Hyderabad, 02 persons from Mirpurkhas, 14 from Sukkur and 38  people were arrested from Larkana over the violation of lockdown, whereas a total 46 cases were registered against the detainees.
Earlier, the Sindh government had imposed a ban on public movement, social and religious gatherings across the province under Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act 2014.
In this regard, a notification stated that the violation of the orders will be considered as an offense punishable under section 188 of the Pakistan Penal code.
 Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had called for tightening the restriction on unnecessary movement and warned that curfew might be imposed if the lockdown orders are not taken seriously.
