KARACHI: Sindh Home Department has detained members of the Altaf-Hussain-led Muttahida Quami Movement- London (MQM-L) London for 90 days.
MQM-L’s Kanwar Khalid Younis and veteran leftist leader Momin Khan Momin have been detained for 90 days on the basis of an intelligence report which stated that the lives of the citizens of Karachi are in danger and law and order situation could be affected.

According to a statement by London-based MQM-L leader Mustafa Azizabadi, former MNA Kunwar Khalid Yunus and Momin Khan Momin were appointed senior deputy convener and deputy convener of the coordination committee, respectively.

Another statement said that the coordination committee had mailed a petition from London to the Supreme Court of Pakistan against the “illegal and unconstitutional” ban on MQM founder Altaf Hussain’s speeches.
A petition was filed in the Sindh High Court seeking lifting of a ban imposed in 2015 on the broadcast of speeches of self-exiled Altaf Hussain by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).
