KARACHI: The Sindh government will impose a strict lockdown from 12 pm to 3 pm today in a bid to limit people from gathering in mosques.
The government’s decision of imposing a complete and strict lockdown has been made to prevent people from spreading the virus during Friday prayers. Moreover, all shops, business centres will also remain closed especially during these three hours.
The three-hour strict lockdown will be imposed especially for the Friday prayers, in this matter, people have been advised by the government as well by the Islamic scholars too to stay and pray at their homes.
The government also ordered the authorities to take strict action against those violating the law. At least 289 people are so far arrested by the police from different cities of Sindh for violating the lockdown which will continue till 14th April.
The notification of lockdown that will continue for 11 more days in the province states: “Sindh government issued orders from time to time earlier to avoid unnecessary and avoidable movement of the public in order to contain the spread of disease.” As per the notification, the lockdown has been imposed in the exercise of section 3(1) of the Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act 2014.
