KARACHI: The Sindh Government has formed a committee for the scrutiny of credentials as it launches a crackdown against bogus and counterfeit domiciles and permanent residency certificates (PRCs) in the province.
According to a notification issued from CM House today, the additional chief secretary is named in charge of the committee which will oversee the domicile and PRC applications.
The committee comprises five members wherein the secretary home department will be its chairman and the additional secretary home department will be part of it as well. The development was made after the Pakistan Peoples Party-led government came up with an idea to tackle the fake certificates.
It may be noted that Pakistan Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-P) earlier had submitted a resolution on the issuance of fake domiciles and Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) in the Sindh Assembly.
According to the resolution, the provincial government should take severe action against the people who have issued fake documents.” MQM-P also demanded complete implementation of rural and urban quota in recruitment for job applications from grades 16 to 22.
Transparent jobs should be provided in Sindh and local people should be recruited for Grade 1-15 jobs in the government sector, the resolution read.
Earlier, MQM-P had rejected the Sindh government-formed three-member committee to investigate the alleged issuance of domicile certificates and PRCs to non-residents of a district and the province.
The MQM-P had urged that the investigation should be handed over to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Addressing to press conference MQM-P central leaders Kunwar Naveed Jameel and Khwaja Izaharul Hasan had said the provincial government did not act fairly in the formation of the three-member committee that would inspect and scrutinize the records of domicile certificates issued by the deputy commissioners in different districts of the province.
The MQM-P had also demanded a transparent inquiry into the selection of candidates for the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) jobs.
