Provincial Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the Sindh government is going to provide direct cash assistance to farmers so that they can play their role in increasing agricultural production and achieving self-sufficiency.
According to Sharjeel Inam Memon, under this program, the first installment of Rs 14,000 per acre is being released for the purchase of DAP fertilizer, while the verification process will be completed two to three weeks after wheat sowing.
After verification, the farmers whose wheat cultivation is confirmed will be given an additional Rs 8,000 per acre so that they can purchase two bags of urea fertilizer.
He said that this initiative will not only reduce the immediate financial difficulties of farmers but also reflects the Sindh government’s commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector, achieving food self-sufficiency, and stabilizing the rural economy.
Sharjeel Inam Memon informed that so far, 419,000 farmers are being provided assistance under this program, and the amount is being distributed through the “Hari Card.”
More than 350,000 applications have been received so far for the issuance of the Hari Card, out of which verification of 180,000 farmers’ applications has been completed.
He further said that the Sindh government has also launched a modern e-challan system in the province, which is receiving strong public appreciation. Two major business figures of Karachi have also termed this system exemplary.
