KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to tighten restrictions rules till Eid holidays to control the surge in coronavirus cases.
A meeting of the Sindh Coronavirus Task Force chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has decided to ban takeaways from restaurants and allow only home deliveries after sunset from Friday (tomorrow) till Sunday.
A meeting of the Task Force with in the chair took stock of the Covid-19 situation and decided to further tighten restrictions to contain the third wave of the virus.
The meeting decided that no takeaways will be allowed after the sunset from Friday 7th May till Sunday 9th May and only home deliveries will be allowed. It was decided that grocery shops will shut down at 6PM, however pharmacies have been exempted from business timing restrictions
The meeting decided that Karachi’s beaches including Hawksbay and Seaview will remain closed during Eid holidays. Vaccination centres will operate round the clock. The meeting decided to impose more restrictions from Sunday till Eid holidays are over.
The meeting was informed that the Sindh Health Department will provide coronavirus vaccines to private hospitals which will be administered free of cost.
The meeting expressed grave concerns that the positivity ratio in Karachi have reached 14.23% from 5% and in Hyderabad the rate has increased to 18.1% from 11.92%.
