Karachi: The Sindh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, has approved a 7.5 percent increase in the province’s minimum wage, raising the monthly salary for unskilled workers from Rs40,000 to Rs43,000.
According to a spokesperson for the Chief Minister’s Office, the revised minimum wage will come into effect from July 1, 2026.
Under the approved wage structure, the minimum monthly wage for unskilled workers has been increased to Rs43,000, while the salaries of semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled workers will also be revised upward in accordance with the new pay scale.
The spokesperson said the revised wage rates will apply to all notified industrial and commercial establishments across Sindh, with the aim of ensuring effective implementation of the province’s minimum wage framework.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the Sindh government remained committed to improving the welfare of workers and strengthening their economic security through practical policy measures.
“The provincial government continues to implement reforms aimed at protecting the rights and interests of labourers and improving their living standards,” he said.
During the meeting, the provincial cabinet also approved several other measures relating to healthcare, the justice sector, and labour welfare, reflecting the government’s broader agenda of social and economic reforms.
The increase in the minimum wage is expected to benefit thousands of workers employed in Sindh’s industrial and commercial sectors, although employers will be required to ensure compliance with the revised wage structure from the effective date.
