Peshawar police have arrested seven shopkeepers for offering smartphones to children on rent to play games, including PUBG, and surf the internet, media reported on Saturday.
The sources revealed that police have sealed two shops in the area and confiscated 47 mobile phones from the possession of the individuals. A case has also been registered against them at the Faqeerabad police station.
They have been accused of inducing the children to indulge in the wrong activities and play games.
The suspects used to rent out mobile phones for Rs60 per hour to the children.
Three of the suspects were taken into custody yesterday, while four more were rounded up today following the revelations made by the arrested individuals. The police have sealed the shops to discourage such businesses.
The police have registered a case and launched an investigation as well.
A video of a business involving renting mobile phones to children in the Faqeerabad area has gone viral in which underage children can be seen using mobile phones at the shop.
