A disturbing incident unfolded in India on December 5, when a man allegedly physically assaulted the manager of a bank and an employee of an insurance company over a dispute regarding Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) on his fixed deposit. The accused, identified as Jaimin Rawal, was arrested on the same day.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the incident occurred at the Vastrapur branch of the Union Bank of India at Ahmedabad, Gujrat, where the customer, Rawal, became enraged over the TDS amount deducted from his fixed deposit interest. Despite being explained that he could claim the deducted amount while filing his income tax return, Rawal continued to argue with the bank manager.

The situation escalated when an employee of an insurance company attempted to intervene, and Rawal allegedly slapped him and tore his shirt. A video of the incident, which has gone viral, shows two men holding each other’s collars while a woman tries to calm them down.
The bank manager filed a complaint, and an FIR was registered against Rawal. Inspector LL Chavda of the Vastrapur police station confirmed that Rawal was arrested on the same day as the incident. The police are investigating the matter further.
The incident highlights the growing frustration among customers over TDS disputes and the need for banks and financial institutions to provide clear explanations and support to their clients.
