Sania Mirza’s separation from Shoaib Malik has once again drawn attention after his marriage to actress Sana Javed in January 2024. Shoaib’s sisters have recently revealed that Sania was “tired of his affairs,” offering insight into the reasons behind their split.
Reports reveal that Shoaib’s family did not attend his nikah with Sana. Sania’s sister, Anam Mirza, confirmed that her sister had sought a khula months before Shoaib’s second marriage.
Sana Javed tied the knot with former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik in January 2024. Allegedly, the two had been involved in a relationship for nearly three years before their marriage—while Sana was still married to Jaswal. Shoaib’s first marriage to Sania Mirza reportedly ended when details of his relationship with Sana surfaced.
For an extended period, Sania Mirza and her family refrained from commenting on the separation. However, following Shoaib’s second marriage, Sania’s sister, Anam Mirza, broke the silence. On January 21, 2024, she shared an Instagram post confirming the couple had been separated for several months. Anam wrote, “Sania had taken a khula from Shoaib Malik months ago. We wish him well for his new journey.” She also urged people to respect Sania’s privacy and her decisions.
Earlier, Sania’s father, Imran Mirza, had confirmed to PTI that his daughter had sought a khula from Shoaib Malik. In Islamic law, khula allows a wife to dissolve a marriage by her own initiative, providing her with the right to end the union. This process is distinct from talaq, which is initiated by the husband, and empowers women to make independent decisions about their marital status.
