He added that lust for wealth has remained the focus of their politics for which they have used institutions ruthlessly. “The whole nation knows that the biggest leader of the sugar mafia is the Sharif family. They have always used politics for business. Lust for wealth has remained the focus of their politics for which they used institutions ruthlessly. Where Sharif mafia has always exploited the people, Imran Khan’s politics is for the rights of poor people,” he wrote.
Earlier on Thursday, the federal cabinet decided to make public the report of a sugar-inquiry commission. Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General Wajid Zia presented the forensic report comprising 200 pages in the cabinet meeting.
The inquiry report finds several government officials, opposition members, and most of sugar mill owners guilty. According to reports, Asad Umar, Razzaq Dawood, Jahangir Tareen, Khusro Bakhtiar, Monis Elahi, Salman Shehbaz, and several others have also been found guilty.
The report said that the owners of sugar mills evaded sales tax and were involved in fake sales. The report further said that allowing sugar exports along with providing subsidy to sugar were wrong decisions.
