Shaikh Rashid arrested in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: The head of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rashid has said that the entire planning (of the government) is aimed at pushing PTI Chairman Imran Khan to the wall, but the wall will fall on the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), and it will never be easy to declare him or his party as proscribed organization.

His comments came after media reports that the ruling coalition in its  meeting that took place on Monday hinted at banning the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), as the government claimed the party had become a terrorist outfit after its alleged involvement in attacking state institutions, including the army, the judiciary, and law-enforcement agencies.

For almost a week, government minister and ruling coalition partners have been peddling a narrative that ‘petrol bombs’ were used by PTI workers while thwarting Police assault on Zaman Park residence, and during Judicial Complex violence, and that the PTI was not a political party but a group of trained militants of banned organisations.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Sheikh Rashid said Pakistan had already been isolated, and the value of Rupee touching historic low, financial difficulties registering horrible heights and neither IMF deal nor foreign assistance were in sight.

— Sheikh Rashid Ahmed (@ShkhRasheed) March 22, 2023

Sheikh Rashid said the government plans to introduce resolution ‘bigger than its own size’ in today’s joint session of the parliament which eventually would cause  more frustration since the rules were in no position to face the masses.

He said after Traveeh prayers on March 25, there would be big public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan Lahore, and that the final decision rested with the Supreme Court to decide if the country would witness elections or Judo Karate, adding that the country’s survival depended on elections only.
