Singer Shehzad Roy has been appointed as honorary brand ambassador for the population and family planning for Pakistan.
According to the article published in Daily Pakistan, Shehzad Roy will work with the authorities to aware people in a country of 220 million where the population growth rate is around 2 percent a year – the third-highest growth rate in the world.
Ministry of Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination in this regard, issued a notification that mentioned: “Reference to the 5th meeting of Federal Task Force on Population headed by honorable President of Pakistan, Mr. Shehzad Roy has been named as honorary brand ambassador for population and family planning.”
The singer-turned activist has been doing social works and services in the education sector for a long time now. Shehzad Roy (born 17 February 1977) is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, activist, social worker, and humanitarian.
He started his singing career in 1995 and has recorded six albums since. Shahzad received his first Sitar-e-Imtiaz in 2005 for his humanitarian work and excellence in public service.
He was awarded the third-highest honour and civilian award for the second time in 2018. He has recorded many hit songs such as ‘Saali,’ ‘Teri Soorat’ and ‘Kangna’, but is most famous for his 2008 socio-political album ‘Qismat Apney Haath Mein’.
