ISLAMABAD: Eidul Fitr will fall on Wednesday (tomorrow) as Shawwal moon has been sighted, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Tuesday.
Following a session held at the Federal Secretariat’s Kohsar Block in Islamabad by the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, it was declared that Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday. Simultaneously, zonal and district Ruet-i-Hilal committees convened at their respective headquarters for discussions.
Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad chaired the meeting, which was attended by members of the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, alongside representatives from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Suparco, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Maulana Azad said testimonies of moon sightings were received from majority of the country and hence Eid would be celebrated tomorrow.
Numerous countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Australia, will observe Eidul Fitr tomorrow, as the crescent was not sighted on Monday. Pakistan will also mark the occasion in alignment with the global celebration.
