JEDDAH: The Shawwal crescent has not been sighted and Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, May 13, several Arab media outlets reported.
According to Arab media, the Shawwal moon was not sighted, meaning Ramadan will last 30 days this year and Eid-ul-Fitr will fall on Thursday, May 13. Astronomers had gathered at the Sumair and Tumair observatory for the sighting of the moon.

Later on, the Saudi Press Agency confirmed that the Royal Court had announced that Wednesday is the last day of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr 1442 AH will be observed on Thursday.

Chief Astronomer Abdullah Al Khudairi had earlier said that there is “little to no possibility” the Shawwal moon will be sighted. Qatar has also announced that Thursday will mark the first day of Eid.
