ISLAMABAD: Police in federal capital filed a case against 10 persons, including former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi, in the fraud case of a housing project.
A case was filed at Rawat Police Station under Section 420 based on the complaint lodged by Abid bin Abdul Qudoos. The complaint implicated property consultant Sheikh Fawad Bashir, along with Shehzad Kayani, Umar Bashir, Farooq Bashir, Kashif, Usman, Nasira Bashir, Iftikhar Ilyas, Hafeezur Rehman, and Malik Sohail Ahmed, along with a former star cricketer.
According to the complainant, Sheikh Fawad and his associates utilized an advertisement featuring Shahid Afridi to entice investment in the AAA Business Centre housing project. Seduced by the Afridi-endorsed advertisement, the victim invested in two shops within the AAA Business Centre. He disclosed having paid Rs55 lac for shop number 17 and Rs40 lac for another shop.

Subsequently, it came to light that the suspects had duped numerous individuals, swindling them of their hard-earned money. Abid discovered discrepancies in the documents provided to him, including stamp papers with backdated issuances and rent agreements on past-dated stamp papers. He also noted that some agreements bore the signature of Sheikh Fawad, though it was evidently forged by another party. Furthermore, he accused the suspects of double-allocation of the same shop to multiple customers.
