Thatta: Seven members of Tablighi Jamaat were drowned when a rickshaw carrying them plunged into a canal in Thatta on Monday evening. Â
According to eyewitnesses, three other people were rescued by local women at the scene as they threw their chadors in the canal soon after the incident and pulled out them with the help of the Chadors.Â
According to rescue officials, the dead bodies of the drowned have been retrieved by divers and shifted to a local government hospital.
The Tablighi Jamaat had come from Peshawar. The Ameer of the Jamaat Syed Muzammil Shah belonged to Peshawar. Other deceased belonged to Peshawar and Dhabeji.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has expressed deep sorrow over the sad accident and loss of lives.
