ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) is reported to have arrested seven suspects in multiple intelligence-based operations across the country, recovering over 42 kilogrammes of drugs valued at more than Rs225 million, officials said.
According to ANF, the seized narcotics included crystal meth (ice), hashish and ecstasy pills, with some of the drugs allegedly intended for supply to students of educational institutions. The suspects reportedly confessed during initial questioning to selling narcotics to students.
In Islamabad, two suspects riding a motorcycle were arrested near Kahuta Road in the vicinity of a college, with authorities recovering 900 grams of hashish, 100 grams of ice and 200 ecstasy pills.
In separate operations at airports, ANF recovered more than one kilogramme of ice from a passenger’s luggage at Faisalabad Airport, while at Allama Iqbal International Airport, 61 capsules containing 440 grams of ice were seized from a passenger attempting to travel abroad.
Elsewhere, 20 kilogrammes of hashish were recovered from a vehicle near Ghazaband Road in Quetta, while 2.4 kilogrammes were seized from a passenger near Burhan Interchange in Attock.
In Kech’s Turbat area, officials recovered 15 kilogrammes of crystal heroin, while another 2.4 kilogrammes of hashish were seized from a courier parcel in Peshawar’s Ring Road area.
ANF spokesperson says cases have been registered under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and further investigations are under way.
