Unidentified gunmen opened fire on the vehicle of a sessions judge in the Wali Khan area of Mastung, killing the judge and his gunman.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Allah Bakhsh Baloch, Sessions Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar and his gunman were killed in the attack, while Additional Sessions Judge Tariq Lashari and another person sustained serious injuries.
The DPO said the sessions judge and the additional sessions judge were travelling from Quetta to the Sessions Court in Mastung when the attack occurred.
Following the incident, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
Earlier, Pakistan’s security forces have killed 10 suspected militants and arrested two female suicide bombers and an alleged facilitator during intelligence-based operations in the Balochistan districts of Sorab and Mastung, the military said.
According to the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces continue operations against militant networks that it says are backed by India and which it refers to as “Fitna al-Hindustan” and “Fitna al-Khawarij.”
The ISPR said intelligence-based operations were conducted over the past 48 hours in Sorab and Mastung, resulting in the deaths of 10 suspected militants. Security forces killed seven militants in Sorab and three in Mastung after targeting their hideouts, it added.
