LAHORE: The selective COVID-19 lockdown will end tonight in Lahore after two weeks of strict implementation.
The final decision regarding extending the lockdown or lifting it will be taken by the provincial government. Smart lockdowns had been imposed in 58 areas of Lahore to control the spread of coronavirus cases in the city.
The sealed localities include Islampura, Abdali Road, Yousaf Road, Johar Town, Canal View, Wapda Town, Jalo Mor, and Cavalry Ground. the provincial government had also sealed entry and exit points of these areas.
All residents have been instructed to wear masks during the lockdown. No activity or gathering will be allowed in homes and only one member of the family will be allowed for purchasing food items.
As per lockdown rules, only one attendant will be allowed to accompany a patient. All shops and businesses, except essential food items and pharmacies, will remain closed. Public transport and pillion riding will also remain banned in the areas.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases surged to 209,337 in the country today, while the death toll stands at 4,304. More than 2864 cases of coronavirus were reported while 118 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.
