KARACHI: A second spell of torrential rain lashed the city on Thursday, bringing with it deafening thunder that shook windows and doors across neighborhoods, while visibility dropped to near-zero in several areas.
The downpour, part of a broader western weather system, swept across Karachi Division and surrounding districts including Hyderabad, Thatta, and Badin, prompting authorities to issue fresh alerts.

Heavy rainfall was reported in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Malir, North Karachi, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Clifton and other areas including Gadap and Bahria Town, with thunderstorm activity recorded near Jinnah International Airport and Malir.
Earlier in the day, intermittent showers continued in Defence, Saddar, Korangi, and the Old City Area, as the city braced for more intense spells through April 4.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department, it may be added here, warned of possible hail and gusty winds, with isolated areas potentially receiving 100–200mm of rain — raising fears of urban flooding in low-lying zones.
Residents have been urged to avoid non-essential travel and remain indoors as the storm system moves slowly at 10–15 km/h.
