After two weeks of scorching heat, Karachiites are set to have some respite as the cooling sea breeze returns to the bustling city today, as predicted by the Meteorological Department.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the intense heatwave gripping most of Pakistan is expected to persist today, with Karachi anticipating the full return of the sea breeze.
The highest temperature recorded yesterday was in Sibi, where the mercury soared to a scorching 48 degrees Celsius. Other cities experiencing extreme heat include Jacobabad, Lasbela, Okara, and Pasni, all recording temperatures of 47 degrees Celsius. Hyderabad and Faisalabad saw temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius, while Gwadar and Bannu recorded 44 degrees Celsius, and Mithi reached 43 degrees Celsius.
In Karachi, the temperature peaked at 37 degrees Celsius, while Lahore experienced 41 degrees Celsius, which felt like 44 degrees Celsius due to humidity.
Weather forecasters predict that the sea breeze will fully return to Karachi today, bringing relief from the intense heat. The PMD also expects scattered thunderstorms in parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northern Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
