ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a schedule for holding by-elections over the vacant seats in the Sindh and Balochistan Assemblies.
By-polls in PS-43 Sanghar, 88 Malir, and Balochistan Assembly constituency PB-20 will be held next year on 16th February. According to the Election Commission, candidates will be able to get nomination papers from 23rd to 28th December, while scrutiny of candidates’ nomination papers will be done by 4th January 2021.
According to the notification issued by the Election Commission, the candidates will be able to challenge the decisions of the Returning Officers in the Appellate Tribunal till 8th January. The final list of candidates will be released on 16th January.
A few days ago, the Election Commission of Pakistan had decided to hold by-elections in eight National and Provincial Assembly constituencies across the country. The meeting chaired by the Chief ECP directed to release of the schedule of by-elections in eight constituencies.

The Chief Election Commissioner had directed to ensure implementation of coronavirus SOPs during the conduct of elections. By-elections in eight National and Provincial Assembly constituencies were postponed on the direction of the NCOC.
The PPP had written a letter to the Election Commission to hold by-elections in three vacant constituencies of the Sindh Assembly. By-elections are to be held for eight vacant seats in the National and Provincial Assemblies across the country. There are two National Assembly and six Provincial Assembly seats vacant across the country.
