ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday has issued directions for initiating inspection of educational degrees of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employees and instructed the authorities to submit a report after the verification process is completed.
The two-member bench of the top court, led by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed also issued notices to summon Attorney General, Managing Director of PIA, and Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) at the next hearing.

During the hearing, the lawyer told the Supreme Court that the workers of the PIA had obtained educational degrees from a private university in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) without attending a single class.
The counsel further informed that apex court that on the basis of such degrees, the PIA staff had also achieved departmental promotions.
