LAHORE: Head Coach and Chief Selector Misbah-ul-Haq has said that Sarfaraz Ahmed was still the second-best wicket-keeper option for the national team.
In a statement today (Friday), Misbah-ul-Haq said that Pakistan needed a back-up for Rizwan in a three-months long tour, hence they opted Sarfaraz,.
He said, “Sarfaraz has a good track record in England and his experience would definitely help players around. He is our second-best option as wicket-keeper and I hope he avails this chance and performs for the team.”
He further said, “We have to utilize every possible resource to make ourselves prepared for the challenge. That is why we are taking 29 players with us.”
“I am confident with this squad which is a blend of experienced and young players. I know we left out so many names but we tried to pick the best possible players,” he added.
Replying to a question, Misbah said that West Indies tour prior to their series will help them in making strategy. “This will be a whole new experience for all of us and I know it would be a little difficult to get into it immediately. West Indies series will help us observe the new changes into the game and probably it would help us in planning against England,” he concluded.
