DUBAI: Indian tennis star Sania Mirza donated her signed racquet to Pakistani tennis player Aisam-ul-Haq to raise funds for his charity foundation.
Mirza was recently in Karachi to meet her in-laws and watch a cricket match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in which her husband Shoaib Malik represented Peshawar Zalmi.
The couple left for Dubai where they hosted Aisam for lunch. The Pakistani tennis ace was in UAE for transit stay while on his way back from Bulgaria where he participated in the Sofia Open tennis tournament.
Speaking to a private news channel, Aisam said he couldn’t meet Sania when she was in Pakistan and he on tennis tour but now had an opportunity to meet her.
Aisam said that Sania was an “old friend” and if he was in Pakistan then he would have hosted her and Malik in Lahore. He said Sania Mirza donated her tennis racquet to his charity organisation Stars Against Hunger.
Several tennis stars including Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have donated their tennis items for Aisam’s charity that is supporting people affected due to the ongoing pandemic.
