Pakistan’s rising cricket star, Saim Ayub, has traveled to London for specialist medical treatment after sustaining a right ankle fracture during the final Test match against South Africa. The injury occurred while Ayub was attempting to save a boundary in Cape Town, causing him to lose his footing and sustain the fracture.
Accompanied by Assistant Coach Azhar Mahmood, Ayub will undergo a thorough medical evaluation with leading orthopedic specialists in England, under the guidance of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The treatment aims to ensure a full recovery and minimize the impact on his promising career.
The doctors have estimated a six-week recovery period, which means Ayub will miss several upcoming fixtures, including Pakistan’s home Test series against the West Indies and the tri-series featuring South Africa and New Zealand. This setback also affects Pakistan’s preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed confidence in Ayub’s recovery, calling him a “valuable asset to Pakistan cricket” and assuring fans that every necessary resource will be made available to support his rehabilitation.
