The Catholic Commission for Interfaith Dialogue, Archbishop Benny Mario Travas, and Reverend Father Shakeel Gulzar organized a sabeel for the Dawoodi Bohra community on Ashura in Karachi.
At the Karachi Parsi Institute, during the long fast-breaking in the intense heat, members of the Dawoodi Bohra community were given sherbet while passing through the premises of St. Patrick’s Cathedral Karachi.
On this occasion, Reverend Father Shakeel Gulzar, the director of CCID, said that today’s sabeel is a manifestation of unity and diversity. It shows that although we belong to different beliefs and religions, under the banner of humanity and the Pakistani flag, ‘we are one.’
He also said that Muharram is a time of reflection, mourning, and solidarity with God for Shia Muslims, and with our sabeel, we have expressed our support. The sabeel is a wonderful gesture of unity from the Christian community. This act has further emphasized the spirit of harmony and cooperation within the region.
CCID coordinator Kashif Anthony initiated the sabeel with the fathers. Father Aamir Bhatti, Father Sunil Sarfraz, Sister Fazilat, Mrs. Samantha Rodrigues, and other leaders also participated.
CCID coordinator Kashif Anthony also thanked the members of the Dawoodi Bohra community for their presence and cooperation in distributing refreshing beverages.”
