LAHORE: The accountability court has granted an exemption to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique from a court appearance in the Paragon Housing Society case.
Accountability court judge Jawadul Hassan conducted the hearing where AC judge accepted the exemption plea of Khawaja Saad Rafique from appearing in the court due to the spread of the coronavirus.
Saad Rafique earlier filed a petition in an accountability court in which he pleaded that he was unable to appear before the court due to a critical situation after the virus outbreak in the city. The court adjourned the hearing of the case and extended it till 21st April.
The PML-N leader was granted bail by the Supreme Court last month in the same case. Saad Rafique along with his brother Salman Rafique was arrested on 11th December 2018 on the charges of signing an agreement with Paragon City regarding the sale of land worth over Rs393 million.
On 17th April 2019, the involvement of Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Khawaja Salman in the Paragon City was exposed. Qaiser Amin Butt, the director of the Paragon Housing Society, was also included in the inquiry initiated by the NAB (National Accountability Bureau), and he was also arrested in November last year.
