KARACHI: A major infrastructure initiative valued at Rs 14.2 billion has been approved to address chronic water shortages in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and adjacent localities within the NA-241 constituency.
The approved scheme aims to supply an additional 10 million gallons of water per day (MGD) to the area. According to Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, who advocated for the allocation alongside leadership from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), work on the project is scheduled to begin shortly.
While the project is localized to NA-241 and DHA rather than serving the entirety of Karachi, officials state it will significantly relieve supply constraints for residents within the designated coverage zone once implemented.
