KARACHI: A row has reportedly occurred between Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and the inspector general of police (IGP) Sindh Mushtaq Mahar over promotions of different officials.
The discord took place over the promotion of CM Sindh’s personal staff officer (PSO) Farrukh Bashir and other officials. The chief minister has been told the IGP Sindh was the main reason behind the non-approval of Bashir’s promotion.
According to media reports, the chief minister directed Sindh chief secretary to write a dissenting note to the IGP. However, the letter has not been issued so far.
The Central Selection Board has approved the promotions for only three officials, Muqaddas Haider, Abdus Salam Sheikh, and Hameed Khokhar. Meanwhile, Farrukh Bashir, Faisal Bashir, Rai Ejaz and Farooq Ahmed were not promoted.
The provincial government is likely to transfer the officers closer to the police chief in the coming day as the row further escalates. IGP Mahar was appointed last year in January.
