ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on Sunday for sighting the crescent of Shawal 1443 AH in the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.
The zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees’ meetings would be held at their respective headquarters in the meantime, said a ministry press release on Saturday.
Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad would announce the final decision about crescent sighting or otherwise subsequently on the basis of information received to that end.
Meanwhile, the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, April 30, hence Eid Al Fitr will be on Monday, May 2.
Eid Al Fitr is marked on the first day of Shawwal – the month that comes after Ramadan in the Hijri calendar.

Meanwhile, the UAE moon sighting committee has also announced that the moon did not sight anywhere in the country.
“The Crescent of Shawaal 1443 was NOT SEEN today, subsequently, the month of Ramadan will complete 30 days tomorrow and Monday 2nd May, 2022 will be the day of Eid,” the official Twitter account of Haramain announced.
As for the UAE, the country’s Moon Sighting Committee, according to , said the Shawwal crescent was not sighted, therefore, Sunday, May 1, will be the last day of Ramadan.
