KARACHI: Supreme Court has ordered to demolish illegal constructions in PECHS area which left residents perturbed.
On Tuesday, a major decision of the Supreme Court has taken place regarding the occupation of the green belt. The court orders to clear the green belt of PECHS Block 6 completely and also to demolish all the houses under construction in the particular area.
However, the Chief Justice of Pakistan at the SC Karachi registry heard the petition filed by the residents against the construction of the K-Electric grid station on the green belt in PECHS.
During the hearing, Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan remarked, “Tell me, your house is also on the green belt.” To which counsel for the petitioners Shu’a al-Nabi argued that, this was not our case. Our case is that society has given the amenity plot to K-Electric.

Furthermore, Chief Justice asked the petitioners angrily, that, “are you here with clean chits? Even your houses are located on green belts”.

Meanwhile, after hearing the petition Chief Justice ordered to demolish the K-Electric grid station along with all the illegal constructions of residents in PECHS 6 and orders for the restoration of the park present there. The court further adjourns the hearing till the next date.
