RAWALPINDI: Renowned lawyer Sardar Abdul Raziq Khan clinched the slot of the president by defeating Sarkar Abbas in the Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association (RHCBA) elections.
According to sources, polling for the High Court Bar Rawalpindi elections started at 9 am and continued till 4 pm without any break in which 2390 out of 4,877 lawyers from across the division exercised their franchise.
A 48-member board headed by Election Board Chairman Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob was formed to oversee the polling process, which included senior members Tawfiq Asif, Zaheeruddin Babar, Israr-ul-Haq Malik and Chaudhry Waris among others.
According to the preliminary results released by the Election Board, Sardar Abdul Raziq Khan was declared the winner with 1421 votes for the year 2021-22.
Sardar Abdul Raziq bagged 570 votes and Sarkar Abbas got 380 votes. Shahida Chaudhry Advocate had earlier been elected unopposed for the slot of Senior Vice President of LHCBA.
Sardar Tariq Khan was elected as Vice President for Attock Seat in the polls. Similarly, Shahid Shahzad Bhatti Advocate won the slot of the secretary of the bar by obtaining 508 votes, whereas, his opponent Haseeb Shakoor Paracha could only get 438 votes.
The slot for Additional Secretary LHCBA was won by Rohma Qureshi Advocate by bagging 500 votes and her opponent Hina Nauman Advocate faced defeat while getting 332 votes. Arshad Rizwan Janjua has been elected as Joint Secretary of LHCBA while defeating his opponent Qazi Azhar Mehmood Advocate.
