LAHORE: Under the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Punjab government continues its crackdown against sugar-price hikers and hoarders across the province.
Punjab provincial Minister for Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal said under the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the authorities taking stern action against sugar-price hikers and hoarders.
The minister maintained that profiteers and hoarders were enemies of the poor and did not deserve any concession. He also warned that action will be taken against officers who failed to take action against hoarders and profiteers, adding that he wants the prices of essential commodities brought down at any cost.
Mian Aslam Iqbal said Punjab Government is providing subsidies worth billions of rupees on flour and its twenty-kilogram bag is available at the rate of 860 rupees everywhere.
Mian Aslam directed to make advance planning regarding demand and supply of daily use items keeping in view the arrival of Ramadan.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had ordered strict action against hoarders to curb hoarding and artificial inflation in the province.
CM Buzdar warned that he will not tolerate any negligence and said that people cannot be left at the mercy of hoarders. He directed the officials to show no leniency to anyone who is found involved in profiteering.
The chief minister also summoned a meeting of the Provincial Price Control Task Force. He also directed to activate price control committees at the district level to curb grand selling and hoarding.
