The Punjab government has launched the registration process for the Rs7 billion CM Honahar Scholarship Program 2024, aimed at supporting undergraduate students.
Through this initiative, scholarships totaling Rs7 billion will be distributed this year to deserving and talented students across the province. The program, which will run for seven years, is supported by a total budget of Rs131 billion, with a 10% annual increase to ensure continuous financial assistance for students.
The program is expected to benefit 30,000 students from Punjab, offering them opportunities to pursue higher education at top institutions. In its first phase, scholarships are available in 68 different disciplines, aiming to expand access to higher education in the country’s most populous region.
The CM Honahar Scholarship will provide support to students from 50 public universities, 16 medical colleges, and 131 graduate colleges, while also extending opportunities to students at leading private universities.
Scholarship Program Application Process
Step 1: Eligibility Check
- Before applying, students must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria. The criteria include academic performance, family income, and other specific requirements outlined below.
Step 2: Online Application
- Registration: Visit the official scholarship portal of the Punjab government and register using a valid email address and phone number.
- Fill Application Form: Complete the online application form by providing personal details, academic records, and financial information.
- Upload Documents: Scan and upload required documents, including academic transcripts, proof of income, and identification documents.
- Submit Application: Review the application thoroughly before submitting. Once submitted, an application reference number will be generated for future tracking.
Step 3: Document Verification
- The submitted applications and documents will be verified by the scholarship committee. Any discrepancies or missing information may lead to the rejection of the application.
Step 4: Interview (if required)
- Shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview to further assess their eligibility and need for the scholarship.
Step 5: Final Selection
- The final list of selected candidates will be published on the official scholarship portal. Selected candidates will also be notified via email and SMS.
Step 6: Disbursement of Funds
- The scholarship amount will be disbursed directly to the students’ bank accounts. Students are required to provide their bank details during the application process.
Eligibility Criteria
Academic Performance:
- Applicants must have secured at least 80% marks in their last academic examination.
- Students currently enrolled in recognized institutions for higher education (undergraduate or postgraduate) are eligible to apply.
Family Income:
- The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed INR 2.5 lakh.
- Applicants must provide a valid income certificate issued by a competent authority.
Residence:
- Applicants must be permanent residents of Punjab. Proof of residence, such as an Aadhaar card or domicile certificate, is required.
Age Limit:
- The age of the applicant should be between 17 to 25 years at the time of application.
Additional Criteria:
- Preference will be given to students from underprivileged backgrounds, including those belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories.
- Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply and will receive special consideration.
