KARACHI: Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has allowed the reconstruction of wedding halls demolished in Surjani and Gadap Town areas that were earlier demolished.
At Surjani Town’s sector 4-D, the SBCA officers reportedly took the money and started reconstruction again at plot No. B-12 and B-13 . Moreover, Karachi Development Authority (KDA) officers are also involved in the illegal act.
The illegal constructions in these areas are being protected as SBCA officers in Surjani Town and officers of the Demolition Squad obtained a huge amount in underhand payment even after the marriage halls were razed and now the illegal development has started again.
Residents of the area are outraged over the reconstruction of illegally constructed wedding halls. Assistant Directors Qamar Qaimkhani and Mohammad Ali have allowed rebuilding the wedding halls again after receiving hefty payments.
While most of the people are busy following precautionary measures in lockdown imposed in the city to curb the spread of the coronavirus, the construction mafia and other illegal builders are taking advantage of the situation and are involved in such illicit activities.
Residents of the area have demanded Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah to take immediate action against the illegal activity and demolish the illegal structures and file a case against the builders, owners and officers.
