RDA, police fail to control illegal construction in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI(Yaseen Hashmi): The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and police have failed to control the illegal construction and development in different areas of city.
According to sources, the city is full of illegal structures, many areas have seen with illegal construction work on a number of residential and multi-story commercial buildings are underway.
The corrupt officers of RDA and Rawalpindi police said to be involved in supporting to builders for illegal commercial buildings and marriage halls.
Sources further revealed that a PTI leader Chaudhry Sajid illegally built a three-story wedding hall on Rawalpindi’s Newchakra Road. Sources alleged that the RDA officers are silent on the issue by taking bribes.
Earlier, Deputy Director of Building Control, Chaudhry Atif had sealed the illegal marriage hall on a public complaint. Later, Chaudhry Sajid, the owner of the illegal marriage hall belonging to the PTI, not only trampled the law but also broke the lock and rebuilt the marriage hall.
Later, Atif Chaudhry applied for registration of a case against Chaudhry Sajid in Naseerabad police station, but a case against Chaudhry Sajid could not be registered yet.
Sources claim that Chaudhry Sajid accused of illegal construction gave a huge amount of bribe to RDA and Nasserabad police to prevent the illegal marriage hall from being demolished.
Locals of the area appealed to Commissioner Rawalpindi and other concern officials to take notice and ordered to stern action against the accused.
