ISLAMABAD: Punjab Finance Minister Malik Muhammad Anwar is allegedly involved in land grabbing in his native village, Pindigheb, a town in Punjab.
A victim of the alleged oppression, Faisal, told M.M News that the provincial finance minister, along with the land mafia, is allegedly occupying lands of the poor people of the village.
According to the victim, the provincial government allotted lands to the poor farmers in the name of agriculture reforms. “However, Malik Muhammad Anwar forcibly occupied the land,” he claimed.
In order to occupy the said lands, Faisal said, with heavy machinery and goons overrun the village and destroyed several homes of locals living there for years. “Not only this, but they also intimidate and brutally assault the poor villagers who tried to resist against this atrocity,” he added.
“We have all the documentary evidence of the allotted lands,” Faisal said, adding that the residents of the village have also registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the provincial minister.
The victim further said that they have also filed a case against the minister in local that has now reached the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The residents have appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar to take action against the minister, who allegedly abused the power.
