Punjab Inspector General of Police Usman Anwar has announced a five-year extension of the age limit for graduate and head constables who missed the opportunity to take the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) exams under the P-Cadet Scheme.
The age limit for candidates applying for the positions of sub-inspector and assistant sub-inspector has been raised from 35 to 40. This decision is expected to benefit thousands of constables and head constables who became over-age due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other circumstances.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the increase in the age limit will allow over 1,000 constables and head constables to qualify for the exams. Many constables had approached the IGP to express their concerns regarding the age restrictions.
In response, the IGP submitted a proposal to the cabinet committee, which was approved, allowing the age limit for over-age constables to be set at 40 years for this one-time opportunity.
