LAHORE: Punjab Health Department has confirmed that the provincial Minister for Energy Dr. Akhtar Malik has tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.
A spokesperson of Punjab health department said in a statement Dr Akhtar Malik has self-isolated himself after tested positive for COVID-19.
It is to be mentioned here that a number of politicians in government and opposition have contracted COVID-19 and some of them have recovered to health.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member of Punjab Assembly Shaheen Raza lost her life to deadly coronavirus after being infected by the disease.
Recently veteran Awami National Party leader Ghulam Ahmed Bilour tested positive for the COVID19 and went into self-isolation at his residence.
National Assembly Speaker, Asad Qaiser had tested positive for the novel coronavirus and went into self-isolation and has recently announced his recovery from the disease.
Sindh governor Imran Ismail has also recuperated from coronavirus after passing 17 days in isolation. Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Sindh, Mangla Sharma had tested positive for coronavirus on May 13.
The provincial lawmaker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), Mangla Sharma, said in a statement that she and her husband underwent coronavirus tests due to the emergence of some symptoms.
She said they went into isolation at their residence after tested positive for the COVID-19.
Furthermore, Sindh minister for education Saeed Ghani after contracting COVID-19 in March recovered from the infection after remaining in isolation at his home.
Sindh Minister for Human Settlement Ghulam Murtaza Baloch had also tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The minister has said that he was in self-isolation at his home.
MPA Rana Hamir Singh affiliated with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) tested positive for the coronavirus on 29 April.
Tharparkar-based MPA Rana Hameer Singh hadcontracted the COVID-19, according to a report issued by the diagnostic and research lab of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences.
