Punjab has introduced a ban on mobile phone usage in all government schools across the province. The ban will be implemented on both students and teachers.
According to a report from a private TV channel, the School Education Department has also rolled out a 20-point guideline aimed at enhancing discipline and promoting transparency in the education system. The directive emphasizes that district and tehsil education officers, as well as school heads, must enforce these guidelines strictly.
Under the new regulations, all mobile phones must be submitted to the head teacher during teaching hours by teachers, students, and non-teaching staff. The guidelines also mandate that school staff wear dress coats and closed shoes, while both teachers and students are required to display name badges.
In addition, students must wear a navy blue jersey along with their school uniform, and each school’s main gate will display working hours on a board. Each class will have a designated class representative, and schools are instructed to display banners featuring several key slogans.
Further details of the guidelines include the use of registers by students, with a designated space on the whiteboard for attendance and the lesson topic. Important points from lessons will be written on the board, and daily inspections of students’ nails and haircuts will be conducted. Teachers, including the head teacher, are also required to wear watches, and attendance is mandatory for all staff during morning assemblies.
