A video of former national cricket team captain and all-rounder Shahid Afridi in Birmingham is going viral, in which some supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are seen shouting slogans against him.
Shahid Afridi is currently in the UK for the World Championship of Legends event. Former Pakistani players are also present with him.
In the video circulating on social media, Afridi can be seen leaving a tea restaurant in Birmingham, United Kingdom, where a crowd had gathered to take pictures with him. Among these people were some PTI supporters who suddenly started chanting “shame shame.”
Various reactions are being expressed by social media users on the video. One user noted that only a single PTI supporter was holding a camera and abusing Afridi while everyone else was showing him affection. Praising Afridi, the user mentioned his character, highlighting that Afridi still shook hands with the person insulting him. Another user commented that while it is possible to have political disagreements with Afridi, chanting “shame shame” slogans is highly inappropriate.
It should be noted that Afridi has previously criticized PTI founder Imran Khan for his negative politics, which has led to hostility from PTI supporters.
