LAHORE: After PPP, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has also rejected the Election Commission’s schedule of constituencies and announced to challenge it in the Supreme Court.
Yesterday, the Election Commission announced that general elections cannot be held in 90 days while announcing the schedule of constituencies. The Election Commission decided to delimit the constituencies based on the new census across the country and allocated 4 months time for the delimitations.
According to the Election Commission, the final publication of constituencies will be done on December 14, constituencies will be done across the country from September 8 to October 7, suggestions will be given regarding constituencies from October to November 8, national and provincial assembly constituencies will be made from September 5 to September 7. The quota will be allocated, and administrative matters related to constituencies will be completed by August 31.

However, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ultimately rejected the Election Commission’s schedule of constituencies. In a statement issued by the PTI spokesperson, it was said that the election commission’s schedule of constituencies is deviant from the constitution, and based on malice, this schedule is a criminal attempt to prolong the caretaker government against the intent of the constitution.
