JACOBABAD: Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Jacobabad President Sardarzada Sharif Khan Buledi was gunned down in Jacobabad.
According to Jacobabad SSP Muhammad Tariq Nawaz, unidentified men opened fire on his car near Nursing College in the limits of Civil Lines police on Monday evening and sped away.
Buledi died on the spot while police reached the site of the incident to start an investigation. His body was shifted by police to the Jacobabad Civil Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Several hundred members of the Buledi tribe as well as political activists rushed to the hospital as soon after hearing news of his murder.
Police said an investigation was underway to ascertain the cause of the murder and identify assailants. The police cordoned off the area and several police teams have been formed to arrest the killers.
Sardar Sharif Khan Buledi was a founding member of PTI’s Jacobabad chapter and held the position of its Larkana division president. He was nominated as the party’s central vice president. He contested for the PS-1 Jacobabad and PS-3 Garhi Khero seats in the 2013 general elections.
