ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has formed a three-member committee to engage in talks with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in an effort to resolve the current political crisis in the country.
The announcement was made by the party on its official Twitter handle on Sunday, following a meeting between PTI Chairman Imran Khan and JI Chief Sirajul Haq the other day.
The committee, which has been tasked with negotiating with JI, comprises Pervez Khattak, Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, and Mian Mehmood-ur-Rashid. The tweet read, “To get out of the current political crisis, a three-member committee of Tehreek-e-Insaf has been formed for negotiations with Jamaat-e-Islami.”

This development comes on the heels of both the ruling coalition and the opposition PTI expressing their willingness to engage in talks with each other, “within the framework of the Constitution,” after separate meetings with JI Chief Sirajul Haq during the day.
Earlier, Sirajul Haq met with PM Shehbaz Sharif, and later with Imran Khan at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore, along with JI Deputy Chief Liaquat Baloch and Central Secretary General Amirul Azeem.
Political analysts see the move by PTI to form a committee for talks with JI as a positive step towards resolving the ongoing political crisis in the country.
