LAHORE: The Core Committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is reported to have decided to take major steps in a bid to break the current political stalemate and get a breakthrough towards its goal of achieving elections.

PTI chief Imran Khan presided over the meeting of the party core committee which was held at Zaman Park in Lahore. Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Aleem Adil Sheikh, Sheikh Rasheed, Sibtain Khan, Asad Umar, Ijaz Chaudhry, Shafaqt Mehmood, Mian Aslam Iqbal and other key figures were also present on this occasion.

MM News has learnt that the meeting mulled over measures to give tough time to the government to mount pressure for elections in KP and Punjab. Besides this, the enforced disappearance of party leaders and workers also came under discussion during the meeting.
Sources privy to the meeting content claimed that a few party leaders suggested that President Arif Alvi should be advised not to sign the judicial reforms bills.

While holding a press conference after the PTI core committee meeting in Lahore, Senior PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry announced that Shah Mehmood and Parvez Elahi had been given the task of contacting other political parties to ensure level playing field for all, adding that cooperation between all parties was a must.l
He also announced that efforts were underway to bring to justice those responsible for the recent events in Lahore, where 20 people lost their lives while waiting in a ration queue. He said 25 FIRs were being filed against the police in Lahore, and that the core committee had decided to pursue Zille Shah’s case to its logical end.
Fawad Chaudhry also spoke about the government’s incompetency to combat the food crisis, citing the impending destruction of the wheat crop and urging the media to address the issue. He said that people losing their lives in the ration queue is a tragedy. We have never seen such situations before. Media should express these issues. will lead to while next year our wheat crop will be destroyed which will increase our food crisis.
He defended provincial governments’ decisions to dissolve the assemblies, stating that it was in accordance with Article 224 of the constitution. He also criticized the campaign against the judiciary, saying that while Imran Khan’s speeches were banned, the campaign against the judges was encouraged by a group of certain journalists and ‘rejected politicians’. He recalled “judiciary had also given judgments against us,” adding that the current government was established as a result of the suo motu notice of these judges. He said if the judiciary had not intervened on Article 69, Shahbaz Sharif could not have come to the government, all these people would have been in jails and they would have had to return the stolen money.

Fawad Chaudhry said “we want Nawaz Sharif to come back, not to go to jail but to return the stolen money.”
The PTI leader warned that the authority of the caretaker Punjab government would end after April 13 and the KP government would not be able to function after April 18. He emphasized that Article 6 would be applicable if these caretaker provincial governments remained in power.
